Manganese in formation of thyroxine

Manganese is a vital nutrient for the glands. It is essential for the formation of thyroxine, the hormone produced by the thyroid gland that regulates metabolism.

Thyroxine or T4 is produced by thyroid gland and it is chemically an amine but it acts like a steroid.

It is an iodine-containing hormone that is produced by the thyroid gland, increases the rate of cell metabolism and regulates growth.

As thyroxine is a general metabolic regulator, its deficiency is associated with non-specific signs of ill thrift and poor growth. Other symptoms are weight gain and fatigue.
